Chapter 191 Warwick the White Wolf
Chapter 191 Warwick the White Wolf
After the hunt, Yorick led his tribe back to the village with the spoils. The jackals' faces were all beaming with excitement, after all, they had been starving for so long and were finally able to have a good meal.
Yorick didn't hesitate and immediately ordered the fire to be lit and a meal to be prepared. The gnolls enjoyed a delicious meal and celebrated with singing and dancing, after all, the days of eating meat to their hearts' content were long gone for them.
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, Yorick climbed onto the stone platform where he had given his speech earlier. He held the iron mace he had stolen from the dwarves high in the air, and the noisy jackals immediately fell silent. Now they looked at their leader with eyes full of respect.
Anyone who can lead them to food and ensure they have enough to eat is a qualified leader. Clearly, Warwick succeeded today, though they didn't know if they'd have another meal after this one.
Yorick shouted to his people, "I said today that I would lead you to reclaim the glory of our Jackal tribe! We have taken the first step. Now..."
Before Yorick could finish speaking, the sky suddenly darkened as if a huge cloud had drifted overhead and blocked the sun. The gnolls all looked up at the sky, then knelt down in terror, for a gigantic dragon filled their entire field of vision. Then, the blood-red behemoth descended from the sky and landed right on the mound where Yorick was giving his speech. Yorick instinctively rolled to the side and fell off the platform, narrowly escaping death; otherwise, he would have definitely become one with the mound.
Then the chimera and Otto, who had transformed into a dragon, slowly descended from the sky and surrounded the gnolls.
Yorick was terrified by this scene. He thought to himself, "Two dragons and so many chimeras, this lineup could easily flatten the Southern Wilderness. God, how can you be so shameless? Our lives have just started to improve, and you want to destroy us again!"
Argreed ignored the jackals present and quickly focused his attention on Warwick. Argreed then excitedly walked up to Warwick, but Warwick was so frightened by Argreed's sudden action that he turned and ran. After all, who could stand up to a nearly 20-meter-long behemoth running towards them? So at that moment, there was only one word in Warwick's mind: 'Run!'
Unfortunately for him, Argreed had already seen through his little scheme. Just as Warwick turned around, Argreed reached out and pulled him into his palm.
Agreed played with Warwick in his palm and complained softly, "Why did you run away? I wasn't going to eat you. I just wanted to get a closer look at you, but you made me have to use force. You're quite naughty, little guy."
Warwick struggled relentlessly, tearing at Agred's dragon claws with his claws and even his teeth in an attempt to make him let go, but he was unable to break through Agred's protective dragon scales, let alone make him release his grip in pain.
After admiring Warwick's body for a moment, Agreed carefully placed him on the ground and then explained via telepathy, "Don't be nervous, little guy. I'm just confirming if you're the subordinate I'm looking for. I don't mean to hurt you."
Warwick asked warily, "Subordinate? What do you mean?"
Agreed laughed heartily and said, "I admire you, little fellow. You have abilities within you that you yourself are unaware of, and I can help you unleash these hidden powers. If you're willing to come with me, I can bestow upon you endless wealth and power that no one but me can rival. How about it? Think it over. I really like you."
Warwick glanced back at his brother Yorick and the gnolls, then turned around and earnestly pleaded, "Could you accept my people as well? If you can, then I will go with you!"
Upon hearing Warwick's request, Yorick immediately rushed forward and kowtowed, saying, "My lord, please calm your anger. My brother is young and doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. He is willing to pledge his loyalty to you. Please have mercy and forgive his transgression."
Yorick knew that the powerful dragon would never look down on them, a defeated army. Now that his younger brother had been appreciated by the dragon, he and his people could not be a burden to him. He had found this younger brother when he was a child at a strange wolf head statue. Originally, he only wanted to use his strong body to help him get the position of chieftain, but after years of getting along, he had come to regard this taciturn but loyal werewolf as his own brother.
Now that his brother has better options, Yorick doesn't want him to miss out on a better future because of his concerns.
Agreed looked at the two werewolf brothers with some surprise. Despite not being related by blood, they were both thinking of each other. He hadn't seen such pure affection in a long time. It was really interesting.
Then Agreed spread his wings and shouted as if he had made a decision: "Alright, I've decided. I'm very satisfied with both of you. Anyway, I need men right now. Although your tribe isn't of much value, I can set a precedent for you two, because you're worth the price!"
Yorick immediately exclaimed with delight, "Really? Thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty! The Jackal Clan will repay your kindness even if it means going through fire and water!"
Agreed waved his hand dismissively and said, "If you want to repay me, you'll at least need to have the strength to help me, like this." With that, Agreed instantly cast the eighth-tier growth spell 'Overgrowth,' and in the blink of an eye, all the gnolls visibly transformed from skinny to strong and plump. However, they were also plunged into extreme hunger, and the gnolls pounced on the food stored nearby, which was originally intended for winter, with bloodshot eyes.
Yorick, somewhat flustered by the sight, asked, "My lord, that food was what we prepared for the winter, and now their situation is..."
Agreed raised his hand and gestured, "Don't panic. I used a little trick to make your people grow to their strongest physical condition in a very short time. However, this will cost them several years of their lifespan. And growth, of course, requires nutrition, so they will be extremely hungry until they have enough food to support their growth. You don't need to worry about the food; you'll have plenty of that with me later. What we need most right now are combat personnel! Understand?"
Yorick quickly nodded in agreement, saying, "Master, you are absolutely right. Indeed, we don't have time to wait for them to grow back into a reliable fighting force."
But Warwick asked worriedly, "They won't die, will they?"
Agreed patted Warwick's head with one finger to comfort him, saying, "Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid. Besides, this is the only way they can survive in this southern wilderness. Your tribe is really too fragile to withstand any storms right now."
