Me and My Cold CEO Wife

Chapter 2122 - 2111: Mural Patterns

Chapter 2122 - 2111: Mural Patterns

"These are all your doing, aren't they?"Ning Fan smiled, looking genuinely pleased.

Just as Muye was puzzled, he suddenly let out a piercing scream, as one of his fingers had been brutally torn off.

"It's these hands, right!"

A gleam flashed in Ning Fan's eyes, and he emotionlessly ripped off a second finger.

"I'll deal with this trash later."

Vivian pointed ahead and said, "Mary should be inside."

"I know."

Ning Fan said to Muye, "Rest assured, I won't kill you so quickly."

Muye wailed in agony, casting a venomous look as he watched Ning Fan leave.

This was a square hall, at the center of which lay the bodies of the victimized young girls.

The bodies were not placed randomly, seemingly aligned to correspond with some kind of formation.

Evil methods like live sacrifices often revolved around sacrificing living souls.

Not understanding the mechanism of formations, Ning Fan did not approach the bodies.

A single misstep, and these girls would never find peace in the afterlife.

Not far from the bodies was a stone platform, upon which several magic artifacts were placed, with a half-meter tall stone tower-like item in the center.

The entire stone tower was black, engraved with countless dark red runes.

The closer one got to the stone tower, the thicker the ominous aura became.

When Ning Fan was less than half a meter away from the stone tower, the environment had become indistinguishable from a cold storage.

Vivian had earlier said, the place where Mary was imprisoned referred to this stone tower.

"With just a slight use of divine power to break these runes, Mary can come out."

Once a spell is understood, all spells can be mastered.

What seemed perplexing to Ning Fan was, to Vivian, a matter as simple as eating or drinking.

Vivian had an incredibly impressive background; as the daughter of a Divine King, having lived for over eighteen thousand years, she had seen all kinds of divine skills and spells.

To her, mortal methods were like paper creations.

Seeing Vivian about to act again, Ning Fan hurriedly said, "Wait a moment."

Vivian looked at Ning Fan puzzledly, then followed his gaze to the large mural on the wall.

Ning Fan wondered aloud, "This seems to be a map."

The massive mural was divided into three sections from top to bottom.

The uppermost section depicted palaces held aloft by white clouds.

The palaces were majestic and splendid, and on the mural, small figures riding white clouds could faintly be seen surrounding the palaces.

The middle section of the mural depicted patches of rice paddies, with people wearing straw hats working in the fields.

Not far from the paddies were clusters of thatched huts.

As for the lower section of the mural, it appeared terrifying.

The overall tone of the mural extended from brightness to a dark red hue.

This depicted a cracked dark brown land, with no grass growing, and cracks through which fiery lava flowed.

Countless small figures, blue-faced and fierce, entirely red, dotted the landscape.

"I know what this place is now."

Ning Fan suddenly recalled the information he had seen moments ago.

"This is where Fusang Divine Spirits reside."

In Fusang mythology, the world inhabited by the gods is divided into three parts.

The uppermost palaces are Takamagahara. The middle section is the land of mortals, known as the Kingdom of Reeds.

As for the bottommost underground, it is the Netherworld Nation where spirits dwell.

"This hardly qualifies as a Divine Kingdom."

Vivian pouted, her gaze filled with disdain.

The country where the gods reside is surrounded by stars, accompanied by myriad worlds; how could it be confined to a single world.

"You've already said they're false gods, of course, their living conditions aren't great."

Having said this, Ning Fan turned his gaze toward the stone tower.

Although Vivian said it only required a bit of divine power to destroy these suppression runes, he had a nagging sense of unease, feeling things couldn't be that simple.

Live sacrifices, magic artifacts, and even this murals were certainly interconnected somehow.

Muye was a genuine cultivator, he wouldn't waste effort on useless endeavors.

The more Ning Fan thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, "Vivian, have you noticed anything?"

Vivian shook her head; besides the chilling aura, she hadn't sensed any irregularities.

Ning Fan turned back and asked, "Muye Mage, care to offer an explanation?"

Even though Muye had been crying out in pain just moments ago, he now remarked defiantly, "The female ghost is sealed inside the stone tower, if you wish to save her, break the seal."

Ning Fan frowned, "You're not afraid of death?"

Muye immediately burst into laughter, "I died a hundred years ago."

"Turns out you're an old undead."

Muye's brazen behavior only added to Ning Fan's unease.

"Whose blood, flesh, and soul did you sacrifice?"

"The Netherworld Monarch!"

Ning Fan was startled, "The Netherworld Nation truly exists."

"Ignorance."

Vivian angrily retorted, "To sacrifice to a false god and still behave so arrogantly, I'm off to slay him."

"Wait."

Ning Fan stopped Vivian, then curiously asked Muye, "You don't seem afraid of death?"

Muye retorted, "Do you dare to kill me?"

"Really?"

Ning Fan looked at Muye doubtfully, feeling that he was deliberately courting death.

"What a headache, what is this formation actually for."

After contemplating, Ning Fan said, "Forget it. Vivian, rescue the girl first."

No matter what scheme Muye might have, Mary must be rescued.

Vivian pointed with her finger, a flash of golden light flew towards the stone tower.

The dark red runes on the tower disappeared instantaneously upon contact with the golden light, like snow melting away.

As the runes vanished, the stone tower began to dissolve, as if melting.

At that moment, Muye began to laugh maniacally, "Haha. The gate to the Netherworld has opened, I invite the great Netherworld Monarch to descend to the mortal world."

Upon hearing this, Ning Fan's expression changed.

The windless basement suddenly filled with chilling gusts, layers of black fog emerged out of thin air, within which faint sounds of ghostly wails and howls could be heard.

"Quick, stop them."

Ning Fan was momentarily stunned; he immediately recognized Mary's voice, followed by the sight of several streaks of white light flashing by.

"It's the soul body!"

When Ning Fan tried to intercept them, it was already too late. A total of ten streaks of white light had already flown past towards Muye.

"Damn it!"

Looking at Mary beside him, Ning Fan asked, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. But soon, there will be trouble."

Mary said anxiously, "It won't be long before the gate to Hell opens."

"What Hell gate, talk later, let's get rid of this old ghost first."

Mary shook her head, "It's too late now, even killing him won't do any good."

Unwilling to accept defeat, Ning Fan unleashed a palm wind, instantly smashing Muye into minced flesh.

But just as Vivian had said, it was already too late.

The ground was littered with the minced flesh, which seemed to come alive, crawling in a certain direction.

Before long, Muye reappeared in his original spot.

"Can't be killed?"

Ning Fan launched another palm wind, yielding the same result.

"Vivian, you try it."

This marked the first time Ning Fan witnessed Vivian unleash her full strength in human form.
