Chapter 468 - 468: How to train your Wyvern
Chapter 468 - 468: How to train your Wyvern
Ava's shrill screams continued for their entire ascent into the skies, and even after they had levelled out and were simply flying forwards. She only finally stopped when she ran out of breath. Her screams turning to heavy pants as her face had turned completely purple, the part of the saddle she had been gripping was completely ruined and crushed by such small, delicate hands.
Seth couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh as he glanced over his shoulder at his sister. He waited for her to catch her breath, before smiling at her warmly.
"Finished? Or do you want to go for round 2? Because if you're going to start again, you should let us know so we can plug our ears."
"Yeah sis. Are you sure you didn't turn into a banshee? Your real mutation should be a sonic attack." Woe teased with smirk, nudging her with his shoulder.
Ava's blue face turned a shade of purple as she blushed with embarassment.
"Shut up idiot!" She shouted, punching her twins arm. The laughing boys face twisted in horror as he tilted backwards from the force of the punch, causing Ava to let out another horrified scream.
She lunged forwards, trying to catch Woe before he fell, only for his fall to stop dead as he broke out in laughter.
Woe straightened up, showing her the strap that he had tied to his wrist before laughing more,
"Oh god, I can't believe you fell for that!"
Ava's face reddened even more as she slapped Woe's arm repeatedly. Each slap being accompanied with a word to emphasise them.
"Don't. Do. That. You. Idiot!" Her slap based Morse code ended with a deep, frustrated sigh before she brushed her hair out of her face.
Woe's laughter only grew with the pain in his arm and the flustered expression on Ava's face, as she turned away to pout to herself. But at least she had forgotten about her fear.
Her eyes trailed to the land below as it peaked through the clouds. Her stomach flipped nervously at first, but the more she looked the more her fear faded and was replaced by wonder and awe.
Her eyes widened more, as if they were completely starving and just couldn't fit enough of the sights in them to satisfy their ravenous hunger. It was simply amazing how things looked completely different from so high above.
Fields and forests blended together, becoming nothing more than paint blotches on a beautiful canvas of nature. Beasts that trembled the land and drove fear into the hearts of men appeared as little more than ants in her eyes.
With the fear of them removed from the distance between them, she could finally appreciate the beauty of these magnificent miracles of nature. She watched in amazement as the T-Chex's moved and hunted as a flock, their once massive bodies seeming just like regular chickens chasing grains of wheat from this distance.
The thought of it all made her giggle softly, a sound that was like music to Seth's ear.
His family had never flown before. They were born in this country and he was sure that they were going to die here too. Holidays and vacations were a luxury that they didn't recieve when they were young, and even when they escaped the Lightbringers first cult it wasn't something they could afford either.
Lea always tried her best to make up for it. Camping in the woods, blanket forts and trips to the zoo. Stuff like that. But they never got the chance to jet away and visit different countries.
Honestly, the joy and awe of it was lost on Seth after all this time. Perhaps it was because he was a jaded adult, broken and rotted from the progress of time and the weight of countless responsibilities that pressed down on his shoulders.
Or maybe it was because he had flown by his own power, and in the heat of battle. He simply never got a chance to bask in it until flying had become routine and expected for him.
The twins though... they were unburdened with such responsibilities and, although there was some trauma's lurking within their souls like a plague he couldn't cure, they were still children.
They would argue teenagers, and close to adults. But in his mind, they were still children that deserved a proper childhood, at least for a few more years.
Moments like this? Moments were they could experience peace and wonder within this new world. He wished he could give them, and Nixie too, as many of these moments as possible. He just had to make sure he captured as many of them as possible, until there were none left to give.
Seth was so lost in his whimsical thoughts that he didn't notice his sister turning to him until she let out a panicked whimper.
"Seth! You're looking the wrong way!"
"Huh?" He blinked softly and frowned. He was indeed looking the wrong way, as he was sitting facing the twins instead of the direction they were flying.
Evens still, it took him a few seconds to realise what his sister was talking about, before he let out a soft laugh.
"Oh right, Yeah. Don't worry about it, I'm not the one doing the piloting. Omelette here is our pilot, and he's doing such a fine job. Aren't you Ommy?"
Seth reached behind him, scratching the scales behind Omelette's ear, eliciting a pleasurable, rumbling growl from the Wyvern and a few kicks from his back leg.
His sister still looked worried, constantly glancing over his shoulder as if they were going to crash into something. Just when he got her to relax, she had to work herself up again. He couldn't help but let out a deep sigh.
"In fact, Omelette is doing such a good job, There's really no need for me to be here anymore."
He shrugged nonchalantly, tilting himself backwards and sliding off Omelette's neck. Ava was calm for a moment, thinking she was being tricked again, but when Seth actually fell off into the skies, she let out another shrill scream.
