Chapter 5 First Meeting with Grandmother Jia
Chapter 5 First Meeting with Grandmother Jia
Jia Hu had never had such close contact with a woman before, and even though he knew it was his grandmother, he still felt a little uncomfortable and shifted his small body slightly.
Grandmother Jia sensed his movement, loosened her grip on Jia Hu, and asked somewhat nervously:
"Are you still feeling unwell?"
As she spoke, she pulled Jia Hu into her arms again.
"My dear grandson has really suffered a great calamity this time."
Jia Hu felt the unreserved love of the person in front of him, and then he recalled the love his grandmother had shown him in his previous life.
My nose felt a little sore. If my ancestors hadn't met with an accident, and I had stayed in this family all this time, how happy I would be.
Thinking of this, Jia Hu stretched out his little arms and hugged his mother.
Grandmother Jia felt a pang of sadness at Jia Hu's cautious movements, realizing she had almost lost this grandson.
Thinking this, he gently patted Jia Hu and said:
"Hu'er, don't be afraid, the bad guys have been caught."
"Grandmother, Hu'er is not afraid."
Jia Hu said somewhat embarrassedly.
I'm already 20 years old, and it's so embarrassing that I was just acting like a child in my grandmother's arms.
Before Grandmother Jia could ask any more questions, Jia Zhu suddenly burst into tears.
Everyone was startled.
Jia Zheng looked at his son, who was wailing loudly, and was somewhat at a loss. Although Jia Zhu was young, he had always been obedient and well-mannered in front of him. He had never seen his son cry like this before.
Jia She, somewhat speechless, stepped forward, picked up Jia Zhu, and coaxed her:
"What's wrong with Little Pearl?"
Grandmother Jia found her eldest son increasingly pleasing to the eye, and seeing that Jia Zhu was still crying, she said:
"Zhu'er, did you suffer any injustice when you came to Grandmother's? Tell me, and Grandmother will help you."
Jia She brought the still-sobding Jia Zhu to Grandmother Jia's side. Grandmother Jia, with one in each arm, asked:
“Come on, tell Grandma.”
Jia Zhu was a clever and quick-witted child. Ever since her brother said he was coming back to visit their aunt, he hadn't returned. When she was suddenly taken back to her mother's side, she realized something was wrong, but being so young, she could only sense that something was amiss.
I only found out today, after hearing my elders talking, that my brother almost died.
I could hold back my tears when I knew my brother was alright, but I couldn't hold back anymore when I saw him.
If my brother really is gone,
Who will sleep with me at night because I'm afraid of thunder?
Who will take care of the flowers that she and her brother planted together?
Who will accompany me through my father's medical examination?
He didn't even dare to think about how he would eat, sleep, and do his homework if he didn't have his brother.
Jia Hu was also startled by the little one's sudden crying.
Later, when she heard someone call out "Zhu'er," she realized that this was her younger brother. The two of them had always studied and lived together at their grandfather's place, and she loved her younger brother very much.
Jia Hu reached out and hugged the sobbing little one, comforting him:
"Be good, little brother, don't cry."
When Jia Zhu saw her brother hugging her, she quickly stretched out her little hands and hugged her brother tightly, saying:
"Brother, don't die! From now on, your little brother will protect you and fight off the bad guys for you. Don't die!"
Jia Hu, seeing the little girl crying so hard, quickly tried to comfort her:
"Brother, it's alright now. Look, you're all better."
"real!"
Jia Zhu was a little skeptical, and added:
"Then my brother promised me he would never die."
Jia Hu was practically sweating bullets, but seeing the little one's serious expression, he could only say:
"Brother, try your best."
"Hahahahahaha."
The adults who watched the two children talking couldn't help but laugh.
Jia She continued, laughing, as he said:
"You want your brother Hu'er to never die? Wouldn't that make him a demon?!"
Jia Zhu didn't care how the adults around him laughed; his brother had promised him, and his brother always kept his word.
Thinking about it made her so happy that she rubbed her little face against Jia Hu's.
Grandmother Jia was also laughing uncontrollably, hugging the two children and calling them her darlings.
"Alright, it's getting late. Have the kitchen bring the food here. We'll eat here today."
Grandmother Jia gave the instructions.
Before long, the food was served. Jia Hu swallowed hard. His own family's food was always luxurious. Just as he was wondering which dish to start with, the food in front of him was replaced with a bowl of plain porridge and a few delicate seasonal vegetables. What was this? Looking at the delicacies on the table and then at the food in front of him, he realized that no matter how exquisitely it was prepared, it was still just plain porridge and vegetables.
Seeing Jia Hu's reluctance, Grandmother Jia said:
"Hu'er, be good. You're still taking medicine, so you can only eat porridge to nourish your body. Once you're better, Grandma will have someone make whatever you want to eat."
Jia Hu was speechless, but what could he do?
Over there, Jia Zhu saw the food in front of his brother and remembered the saying he had heard before about sharing blessings and hardships, and said:
"My brother and I eat the same things."
Jia Hu was touched after hearing this; he realized that his younger brother hadn't been spoiled in vain.
"Silly child, your brother is injured and can't eat these things, so he's drinking porridge. You eat your food properly."
Grandmother Jia loved seeing her family members united and loving, and she smiled as she heard Jia Zhu's words.
