Chapter 80: Demanding
Chapter 80: Demanding
What is this?
"This is the thing the old man was talking about."
Song Miqiu tapped the stone with something to confirm that it hadn't shattered completely, and his smile widened.
But no one understood what this meant, and before they could ask for clarification, the items were stolen.
"Isn't this a pearl oyster? How did it get here?"
"This stuff, when ground into powder and mixed with fine sand and gravel, along with stacked stones, can prevent flooding."
Upon hearing Song Miqiu's words, the Crown Prince couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the clam shell. Just as he was about to ask about the principle behind it, he heard the snickers of the people next to him.
"This miracle doctor is truly as the rumors say."
Because of this one sentence, no one there still believed Song Miqiu and wanted to throw the things back into their hands.
Seeing their behavior, he felt dissatisfied, pushed away Yu Huailin who was standing next to him, and turned to leave.
But Song Miqiu hadn't taken more than a few steps when she heard the Crown Prince's voice.
"It's just some worthless seashells, so why not give it a try?"
"Yes."
Of course, no one dared to contradict the Crown Prince. They immediately took the clam shells that Song Miqiu had retrieved and tried to follow the method.
Because someone had fallen into the water, the Crown Prince could not linger any longer. After giving a few words of advice, he led everyone back to the City Lord's Mansion.
But he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he turned to look at Song Miqiu, whose body was trembling slightly from falling into the water.
"Miracle doctor, those people are still suffering. Do you have a faster way to cure them?"
"Well... I have indeed been researching this, and I finally have some ideas today, but I'm really hampered by the fact that I don't have much stock on hand, so I need to go out and buy more."
The crown prince nodded, then waved to the city lord, beckoning him over.
But just as he was about to ask someone to help him make the purchase, Song Miqiu interrupted him first.
"Some of them require my personal selection. Why don't you give them to me and I'll prepare them myself?"
Upon hearing this, both of them couldn't help but raise their eyebrows and stare intently at Song Miqiu.
She met two pairs of eyes with different expressions. She wanted to back away, but then she remembered that all the points she had painstakingly accumulated had disappeared, so she could only force herself to stay in place.
It's unclear whether Song Miqiu's goal made the Crown Prince sense something, but he hesitated before giving a reply.
But just as Song Miqiu was about to reach out, he suddenly reached out and stopped the accountant that the city lord had summoned.
"I can give you half of the money for the medicine. The other half can only be taken out after everyone has fully recovered."
"You don't trust ordinary people?"
Song Miqiu couldn't help but frown, but he was just pretending, hoping to get half of it as soon as possible and fill it into the system to purchase medicine.
Unfortunately, their performance was so good that it left the Crown Prince and his companions stuck in place.
In the end, Song Miqiu broke the silence himself and took out two small pills that he had prepared in advance.
"They'll recover after eating this for two or three days."
"Can such a tiny pill really cure the illnesses of so many people?"
Song Miqiu did not answer the city lord's question, but instead slightly raised his head, revealing an extremely confident look.
The crown prince noticed her movements, chuckled softly, and tossed the pill to the guard behind him, instructing him to test it now.
They must have found a patient whose condition wasn't too serious, because they returned in less than two hours.
By this time, Song Miqiu had already returned to her room, but she still heard the commotion outside and began to have people prepare medicinal herbs.
But that only reduces the loss by a few points; those uncommon herbs still need to be exchanged for a few points.
Song Miqiu didn't know how to brew medicine, so he could only throw the ingredients into the largest clay pot, boil them haphazardly until they turned into pitch-black Chinese medicine, let them cool, add some flour and sugar, knead them into small balls, and make the kind of sugar pills that were easiest to swallow.
They bottled them one by one, but before they could be taken out, there was a knock on the door.
"The divine physician truly lives up to his name; his effects are almost immediate. These are rewards prepared for you by the Crown Prince, so please do not refuse them."
But when Song Miqiu saw that they were all ordinary items, he frowned and stood in front of the city lord.
The other person seemed to sense her dissatisfaction, and couldn't help but frown. Before she could speak, she heard a sigh.
"Just put it down, consider it money for the medicine."
"Have you prepared your things?"
Song Miqiu was too lazy to pack up the pills anymore. He pointed to the group next to him and led them all out, then yawned.
Everyone knew she was probably exhausted from boiling the medicine, so they immediately grabbed their bamboo baskets and ran out quickly.
Once the entire courtyard was silent, she once again approached the gold and silver beads and let out another sigh.
If it were put up for auction in the system, it would probably be better to use it as living expenses in the future.
No, I need to prepare all the medicine. My points are almost gone, and I need to make another killing later.
Having figured all this out, Song Miqiu exchanged those few coins for about ten portions of medicinal herbs and continued with what she had been doing.
After a whole night, the points I had painstakingly saved up were gone, and the whole house was filled with the sugar pills I had made myself.
That should be enough for at least a hundred people.
Unfortunately, it was far from enough for that refugee camp; at least a hundred more doses of medicine would be needed to barely meet their needs.
Song Miqiu turned her gaze back to the gold and silver jewelry on the ground, and after a while, she found a slightly rough gold hairpin and threw it into the system.
After doing all that, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. She wanted to find an open space to take a short rest when she heard footsteps outside the door. She immediately leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes.
The next moment, the door was pushed open, and everyone in the courtyard saw the messy house.
"It seems the divine physician has been brewing the elixir all night. Everyone should not disturb him. Take the medicine and leave."
"Yes."
The deafening response nearly made Song Miqiu, who was pretending to be asleep, fall to the ground. She was forcibly pressed down, but she was no longer going to pretend to be asleep.
Slowly opening her eyes, Song Miqiu met the Crown Prince's undisguised gaze.
"Your Highness, these are the elixirs I prepared for them, but they are still not enough. I hope you can..."
“Just tell me what you want, Doctor, don’t hesitate.”
Having been waiting for this answer, Song Miqiu immediately nodded and looked unceremoniously at the jade thumb ring that the Crown Prince was playing with in his hand.
Even a layman like her could tell that the water was of high quality, so she opened her mouth without thinking.
But perhaps the gaze was too direct, because the other person actually pulled his finger back behind his back.
Although the movements were casual, Song Miqiu could sense that this was a warning not to covet things that didn't belong to her, so she could only shift her gaze elsewhere.
However, everything on that person was too good, and she was worried that each item was like the jade thumb ring, so she had to bend down again.
"Although I am not greedy, I do enjoy collecting rare and unusual items. I would like to ask Your Highness to bestow some upon me."
"Since that's the case, how about I give you those pieces of jade?"
