Chapter 5: Fairy Tail
Chapter 5: Fairy Tail
After testing the effects of the "Equus Bronze Cloth," Moen didn't stay at home any longer; he went out to the "Fairy Tail" guild.
Moen's daily activities are basically limited to three places: home, guild, and forest. He rests at home, trains at the guild, and explores in the forest. Today, he went to the forest early and will spend the afternoon training at the guild.
Moen's house wasn't far from the guild, just a few streets away. From the window of Moen's room on the third floor, you could even see the Fairy Tail guild's signboard.
After all, this is the guild leader's home, so it's naturally not too far from the guild.
The streets of Magnolia are clean and tidy, and the buildings are in a completely Japanese light manga style. On both sides of the bluestone-paved road, there are rows of neat stalls, including some well-established shops as well as simple roadside stalls. The flow of customers seems to be quite good, and the sounds of vendors calling out their wares can be heard all the time.
"Uncle Drew, how's business today?"
"Aunt Kelly, are my new clothes ready yet?"
"Sister Phil, I want to buy a bouquet of flowers."
Walking down the main street of Magnolia City, feeling the lively atmosphere, Moen greeted the vendors around him warmly. He walked this road every day and was already familiar with everyone. The vendors also responded to him enthusiastically.
This street is considered one of the more bustling commercial streets in Magnolia, with all sorts of shops and vendors, much like a market.
Just a short walk from Moen's house is the commercial street, where many of the old vendors and shop owners have watched Moen grow up. Compared to Laxus, who gradually went astray, Moen has always maintained a stable personality and is more loved by everyone. He grew up surrounded by people's kindness.
"Here you go, little Moen, thank you."
Phil, the flower girl carrying a flower basket and dressed in tattered clothes, looked at Moen. A smile bloomed on her freckled face, and she picked out a bunch of brightly blooming roses and handed them to Moen.
Every day, whenever she came, Moen would buy her a bouquet of flowers, and Phil knew that the boy wanted to help her sell them quickly.
"Moen, heading to the guild? Here you go!"
The uncle who owned the fruit shop next door called out to Moen, tossed him an apple, and smiled broadly.
"Hey! Thanks, sir!"
Moen reached out and caught the apple; it was bright red and looked very appetizing.
He took a bite with a "crunch," then smiled, gave the uncle a thumbs-up, and praised him, providing plenty of emotional value.
As Makarov's grandson and a member of the Fairy Tail guild, Moen was naturally quite well-known in the city.
After all, Fairy Tail is the only magic guild in Magnolia City, and it is renowned and one of the top guilds in the entire Kingdom of Fiore. Fairy Tail has almost become one of the symbols of this city.
The location of Fairy Tail's guild hall is a testament to its status; it is situated in the very center of Magnolia City.
Taking the flowers with one hand, Moen said goodbye to the enthusiastic vendors while munching on an apple. After crossing several streets, he finally arrived at the Fairy Tail guild hall.
The Fairy Tail guild hall is very large, surrounded by a wall, and inside is a three-story castle-like building with the words "Fairy Tail" hanging on it, as well as the emblem representing "Fairy Tail," an emblem that looks like a flame or a tail.
Every member of Fairy Tail has this crest; it is a symbol of their identity and represents the mages of Fairy Tail.
Moen also has a pure black emblem on his left shoulder, which is very noticeable when he wears sleeveless clothes or is shirtless.
Moen entered the courtyard and walked into the Fairy Tail guild hall. The guild hall's gate was open, and there were no guards or anything like that. Anyone who wanted to come in could walk in.
Ultimately, a mage guild like Fairy Tail is essentially an agency that introduces mages to jobs. The mages in the guild earn bounties by completing tasks posted on the guild's task list.
Such a place naturally does not restrict outsiders from entering and exiting; in fact, it welcomes guests. The guild even has dedicated staff to greet clients who come to post quests.
Upon entering the guild hall, a noisy and bustling atmosphere filled the air. The first floor of the Fairy Tail guild hall was the lobby, a place where all guild members conducted daily activities such as accepting quests and eating, and it was open to everyone.
Rows of tables and chairs, a front desk resembling a bar counter, and several task notice boards posted with commissioned missions—this lobby on the first floor certainly had the feel of a "mission hall," where the mages of "Fairy Tail" gathered.
The second floor of the guild hall is the location for accepting high-difficulty missions, and only S-rank mages can go up there. As for the basement, only the successive guild masters can enter it.
"Moen, I heard you knocked the new kid unconscious? Is that true? Are you disciplining a newcomer?"
As soon as Moen entered the guild hall, someone noticed him immediately. It was a blue-haired man wearing a white coat. The man spoke with a smile on his face. He was quite well-informed, as he already knew that Natsu had been knocked unconscious.
Although anyone can enter and exit the lobby on the first floor of the guild hall, the mages of Fairy Tail who stay in the guild are always vigilant about who comes and goes, as they do not want to see anyone causing trouble in the guild hall.
"Uncle Marcao, don't say that. We were just having a normal sparring match. You're making it sound like I'm the kind of bully who likes to pick on newbies."
Moen rolled his eyes and answered the blue-haired man's question in an annoyed manner.
"Uncle?! I'm not even thirty yet! You brat!"
Macao Kongbo held his head, looking as if he had seen a ghost. He felt that he was in the prime of his life, not some old man!
"Haha, calling you 'uncle' isn't wrong at all. You're twenty-nine, almost thirty, and aren't you about to become a father?"
Beside Macao Kongbo, Wakaba Miner, with his brown pompadour and a pipe in his mouth, laughed loudly.
"What are you laughing at?! Aren't you the same?! You're already an old man!"
Macao Kongbo immediately retorted, and the two had only exchanged a few words before they started punching and kicking each other.
"..."
Moen covered his face in exasperation, avoiding looking at the two clowns. When he was very young, Macao and Wakaba had been like this all along, and he was used to this routine.
