Chapter 275 The Grapes Arrive
Chapter 275 The Grapes Arrive
A man approached the Qilin and bowed deeply, his clasped hands trembling slightly, his voice filled with barely suppressed excitement, "Qilin, please bless me with a long and healthy life!"
A stir ran through the surrounding crowd, with a few people covering their mouths as if trying not to laugh.
Tourists nearby saw this and asked curiously, but they just smiled and waved their hands, indicating that they would find out soon enough.
"Are you sure?"
Qilin understood. She nodded slightly to the person who came and asked in a low voice.
"Of course!" The man hadn't yet noticed the awkward atmosphere.
Qilin nodded again, and then, in the girl's suddenly widened pupils, she turned around, twisted her waist, raised her leg, and kicked out with a smooth, flowing motion.
The man felt a blur before his eyes, followed by a sharp pain in his cheek. The sudden blow caused him to involuntarily spin 365 degrees before collapsing to the ground with a thud.
"Pfft, hahaha, kid, is this your first time here? Don't you know that if you want to extend your lifespan, you have to take a kick first?"
A burst of laughter erupted from the crowd. The man, covering his slightly swollen face, looked up in bewilderment. A middle-aged man who had visited the Qilin Temple before smiled and explained to him.
Amidst the chaotic laughter and noise, the girl stared blankly at the scene with her mouth slightly open, her eyelashes fluttering, her eyes filled with disbelief.
"What's wrong? What are they saying? It's too noisy, I couldn't hear them."
The boyfriend below was being jostled and swayed by the crowd, and he held on tightly with both hands to prevent the girl from falling.
"Huh? Oh! It's nothing, let's go quickly."
The girl snapped out of her daze, hurriedly climbed off her boyfriend, grabbed him, and pulled him away. The boy, caught off guard, stumbled a couple of steps as he was dragged along.
"Hey, hey, didn't we say we were going to give our blessings?"
"No need! Let's go find other blessings!"
"Huh? But I checked and the auspicious Qilin that used to be at this temple is gone, and only this Qilin is left."
"Then I won't bestow blessings!"
Just kidding, getting kicked in front of so many people! That's incredibly embarrassing, okay? This young girl doesn't have that kind of thick skin.
Before long, it was time for the temple to close. Tourists, still reluctant to leave, went out through the gate, and the temple fell silent.
The grapevine, which had been squatting on the stone stool all day, yawned. The white-bearded, white-haired abbot came over with a smile.
"Grape, you must be tired after a long day. Go collect your wages and you can go home."
"Yes, Abbot."
Grape nodded politely, then turned and left without saying another word.
Not long after, she returned to her rented room in the city after receiving her salary.
This is a two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. The white ceramic floor reflects the light, and the yellow wallpaper is illuminated by the interlayer lamps to create a warm atmosphere.
A half-person-high picture frame hangs in the most conspicuous place in the living room. The frame is polished to a shine, and inside is a photo of black grapes and lychees taken at the university gate.
The pink Qilin's eyebrows curved into crescent moons as it smiled and leaned its head against the black Qilin's shoulder. The black Qilin, with an air of aloofness, slightly raised its head, its eyes showing a hint of helplessness.
"Tsk, we were supposed to be best friends forever, but she got snatched away by that puppy."
Grape put down her bag, her gaze swept over the painting, and she remembered the scene when her best friend introduced her to her boyfriend. Grape's hooves suddenly felt itchy and she rubbed them hard on the floor a couple of times.
"I'll be going to her place in two days, let me give her another call."
She went back to her bedroom, lay down on the bed, and, too lazy to cook dinner, made a phone call.
the other side.
Lychee lay on the grass, its beautiful eyebrows slightly raised, leisurely eating freshly picked dewdrops.
In front of the camera, Zhuangzhuang hid in the bushes, tears streaming down his face, holding a few slices of onion. He couldn't cry properly, so Puss in Boots had to resort to unorthodox methods to make the filming go smoothly.
Lychee watched with a smile on her face, when suddenly her phone started ringing. She answered it and tucked it under her neck.
"Hey?"
"Lizhi, I'm taking a vacation tomorrow."
"Grape?"
She unexpectedly got up, switching from holding the phone between her fingers to using her handheld device.
“It’s me. How have you been, Lychee? Has Tianma bullied you? If so, I’ll teach him a lesson.” Grape rolled over in bed.
"No, Zhuangzhuang is very good to me. But... it's a bit annoying that the director kept asking me about gossip today."
"When we get there, point out to me who it is. I'm going to shorten its lifespan." Grape's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing in them.
"Oh, no need, no need, it's not worth it. The director didn't do anything too outrageous, and he hasn't come to ask me about it."
"Besides, are you shortening lifespan? You should either send them away directly or extend their lifespan."
Lychee grinned and wiped her sweat.
The two best friends chatted for a while longer, and then the filming on the other end came to a close. Seeing this, Lizhi said goodbye and hung up the phone.
She had just put down her phone when Zhuangzhuang came running over excitedly, "Lizhi, Lizhi, I'm done taking pictures! Who are you chatting with?"
"It's Grape. She said she'll come visit us tomorrow."
"Eh?"
Zhuangzhuang slammed on the brakes, his body wobbling twice. He stared in disbelief, then instinctively took a step back.
"Okay, I've already hung up. Grape isn't that scary, is she? Look how nervous you are." Lychee helplessly put away her phone and stood up from the grass.
Zhuangzhuang subconsciously touched his face and stammered.
Next, the young couple went to film their last scene together. It was getting slightly dark, and although they hadn't finished filming yet, it was time to go home.
With a wave of his hand, Puss in Boots dismissed the entire crew and sent them home.
night,
The sky was filled with twinkling stars, and a bright moon was surrounded by them.
The dazzling light shimmered in her pink eyes. Lychee blinked, leaned her head against Zhuangzhuang, and looked up at the starry sky.
The grapes are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but due to the journey, they won't arrive until the afternoon.
Lychee planned to finish filming at the film set first, then pick up her best friend at the station in the afternoon. The three of them could then enjoy a leisurely afternoon strolling around the city. The next day, she would visit her friend to see her work.
The plan was simple. She pondered it slowly, then closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The afternoon of the second day.
After finishing their shoot, Lizhi and Zhuangzhuang said goodbye to Puss in Boots and prepared to leave, but they were stopped by Puss in Boots.
"Wait a minute, you guys take this."
A beautifully packaged invitation was handed over. When Lychee took it and read the contents, his hand trembled and his mouth gaped open.
"A wedding invitation?! Director, when are you...?"
"This isn't mine, I asked Bunny to make it for you." Puss in Boots interrupted the other person's wild thoughts with a single sentence.
The two beasts looked stiff, their heads spinning as if they had been hit by a stick, their eyes filled with confusion.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm planning to take wedding photos for you later. Here's a sample invitation. Are you satisfied with it?"
"Also... how about we take this opportunity to make it real?"
Puss in Boots withdrew its paw and looked at the bewildered couple with a meaningful expression.
Zhuangzhuang's ears turned bright red the moment he was stared at, steam rose from his head, and he couldn't speak, stammering, "I...I..."
"Uh, Director, we'll talk about this later. Zhuangzhuang and I have things to do, so we'll be going now!" Lizhi hurriedly stuffed the invitation into her bag, grabbed Zhuangzhuang, and fled.
Watching the two disheveled figures ride the auspicious clouds into the sky, Puss in Boots stroked his chin and revealed a maternal smile.
—This looks promising. We should arrange a wedding ceremony for them, and do it in multiple ways.
……
"Lychee? Why are you running so fast? So, are we even going to have this wedding...?"
Zhuangzhuang, who was on auspicious clouds, had his mouth full of strong wind. Before he could finish speaking, his mumbled words were interrupted by Lizhi bumping into him in embarrassment and annoyance.
"Oh, I already said we'd talk about it later, now we need to go pick the grapes!"
The station where Grape's flight landed was located in a bustling area on the east side of the city. Amidst the loud announcements, dense crowds flowed in and out, and the noisy din filled the air.
When the two beasts arrived, Grape's flight had already landed, and they quickly found each other upon entering.
"It's been so long since I've seen lychees. Are you getting used to living in the mountains?"
Grape tossed her luggage onto her back and walked briskly to the two beasts, giving Zhuangzhuang a glare as she did so.
Pegasus shrank his neck and hid behind Lychee.
"I'm doing very well. The celestial dew there is delicious. I think I've even gained a little weight..." Lychee touched her cheek, her eyes slightly darting away.
"You're not fat at all, you've definitely lost weight. It must be that this guy didn't take good care of you."
As Grape spoke, her sharp gaze pierced Zhuangzhuang, as if she wanted to tear the beast to pieces. Her lips parted slightly.
"And what about you? Why are you avoiding me? I did help you extend your lifespan, is it really that scary?"
Zhuangzhuang shuddered, tucked his tail between his legs, and after a moment he timidly walked out, bracing himself to look up and meet Grape's gaze.
"No, I'm very grateful to the grapes. They extend my lifespan, allowing me to stay with the lychee longer."
"Then shall I extend your lifespan a bit more?" Grape turned to the side and raised one of its hind hooves.
"Uh, no need, no need, no need! I think my current lifespan is enough to keep Lychee company for a long time. If that's not enough, I'll find Grape!"
Zhuangzhuang was so frightened that his limbs went limp, and he scrambled to hide behind Lizhi, his cheeks still throbbing with a lingering pain. At that moment, he remembered the fear of being dominated by Zengshou and Tizi.
Lychee's best friend is terrifying!
"Alright, alright, Grape, stop teasing Zhuangzhuang. He's a coward; you kicked him so hard back then that he's traumatized."
Lychee awkwardly shielded Zhuangzhuang, and the trembling body pressed against her back made her both laugh and cry.
Grape pouted, "You still need to protect a boyfriend like that? Lychee, you should just come back to the temple with me."
