Chapter 866 Fragmentation of Memories

Chapter 866 Fragmentation of Memories

Streams of blood, emitting a strong, pungent odor, shot into the sky, soaking Yu Shijiu's entire lower body.

"?"

Yu Shijiu looked down at her wet, blood-soaked calves and feet, and was completely stunned.

What exactly caused this humanoid monster to bleed so much?

Isn't this a bit too outrageous? Forget it, let's get out of this awful place quickly, it's too dirty, I need to go wash up.

"woo woo woo woo……"

Just as Yu Shijiu was walking forward in frustration, his hand was once again gripped tightly by a familiar, sticky, and cold embrace.

"Save me...please save me..."

Yu Shijiu: "..."

Yu Shijiu took a deep breath and looked down at his hands.

Sure enough, his arm was once again covered by a familiar image: a woman's head wrapped in black hair, and a pale, cold, thin, and twisted woman's arm.

How come this thing can't be killed by a single strike?

Yu Shijiu was extremely annoyed. Just as he picked up the axe to continue chopping, a sharp pain suddenly shot through the hand that was being held by the woman's head.

He looked down and saw the woman's mouth, hidden under her black hair, wide open, as she cried out in pleas while viciously biting the flesh on the back of her hand.

Yu Shijiu's scalp tingled instantly when his hand was bitten—the next second, the woman's head tore the skin and flesh off the back of his hand, revealing the flesh, muscle layer, and bare white bones!

"call!!!"

Yu Shijiu suddenly opened his eyes, his chest heaving violently, his wide, shocked pupils filled with the dusty ceiling.

...Another dream?

Before Yu Shijiu could recover from the nightmare, the stinging pain on the back of his hand and the suppressed sobbing in his ear felt like two sharp needles piercing his sensitive nerves.

He suddenly closed his eyes and then opened them again. His vision was initially blurry, but then it finally focused on Thumbelina, who was lying on the edge of the bed, trembling all over.

“Hmm…” Yu Shijiu let out a short nasal sound.

He immediately sensed the unusual atmosphere in the room, as well as the unsettling, eerie humming sound that lingered outside the door, though it had diminished.

Yu Shijiu's sharp gaze swept across the closed door, then landed on the back of his hand—where Thumbelina had unconsciously pinched several deep red crescent-shaped marks, and several places were slightly bleeding, with sharp pain constantly drilling into the depths of his brain.

But Yu Shijiu didn't care about that. Instead, he immediately grabbed Thumbelina's cold, trembling hand.

"what happened?"

Yu Shijiu's voice was hoarse from just waking up, but he was unusually calm, showing no signs of the dishevelment one would expect from waking up from a nightmare.

He asked, "Is there anything outside?"

Thumbelina felt the warmth of his palm and his clear breath, and as if grasping at a lifeline, she suddenly raised her head, her face as white as a sheet of paper.

She nodded vigorously, her voice choked with sobs, and she whispered incoherently:

“There’s…there’s a sound…singing…it’s so scary…so scary…Shi Jiu…Shi Jiu…I…I…I remembered something…the sisters…so much blood…so much blood…”

Yu Shijiu's eyes narrowed.

He quickly sat up, but instead of immediately checking outside the door, he patted Thumbelina's back reassuringly and took the flashlight she was clutching with his other hand.

"Tell me slowly, tell me everything you've heard and thought, okay?"

"Don't be afraid, I told you I would protect you, right? Trust me, don't be afraid, with me outside the door, nothing can hurt you..."

Yu Shijiu subconsciously lowered his voice, his obedient and gentle voice seemed to have a strange soothing power, calming Thumbelina's wildly beating heart a little.

She gripped Yu Shijiu's hand tightly, as if grasping the source of her courage and strength, and began to describe, haltingly, the humming outside the door, and the vague yet chilling words within it—

"Pretty," "obedient," "forever," "well-behaved"... "beautiful"...

Then, Thumbelina clutched her head in anguish, as fragmented memories from the depths of her mind surged back:

"Mom...Mom doesn't like girls who aren't pretty...disobedient...so...all my sisters...were...were buried in flowerpots...became flower mud...they told me to run away...it's been in my ears...it's been in my head...it's been telling me to run away..."
